Also these dimmers will not work for incandescent fixtures. The new t8 led tubes are not working on my ballasts. You cannot mix fluorescent fixtures and incandescent fixtures on the same dimmer switch. Or you can read the printing on the tube to identify the correct replacement type.

A burnt out lamp is the most common reason any light fixture does not light. I have 3 different ballasts and none of them work with the led tubes. As i said in the intro we noticed this happening over a 3 4 week period. One clue that your ballast is the reason for a non working fluorescent light is the light bulbs struggle to turn on.

The no part of this question is that the conventional dimmer switches you can purchase at the hardware store are designed for incandescent lighting only not fluorescent lighting. A fluorescent light fixture that is not working or working well can be caused by several problems. To replace remove the old tube and bring it to the hardware store. A fluorescent tube that is failed or failing usually has darkened areas near one or both ends of the tube.

I got these t8 size led light tubes to replace fluorescent tubes. A good way to check that your ballast is the culprit is to turn on a voltage detector and hold it next to the wires supplying power to the ballast. Aside from a burnt tube other factors such as a worn starter and loose or oxidized electrical contacts can contribute to a fluorescent light not working properly.
